Highland Council Winter Road Conditions report - Tuesday 31 January 2023

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for the areas where road treatment has been carried out on Tuesday 31 January 2023 are as follows:

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh (as at 10:24) Most road conditions are OK though very windy. A836 Fain and also Gorstan to Achnasheen had slight cover of snow with hailstones, Bealach na Ba has slight cover of snow and is on going. These routes have been gritted.
 
Skye and Raasay (as at 08:31) -  Positive road surfaces temperatures, rain showers and strong wind. No issues reported overnight.
 
Nairn (as at 07:53) - Wet roads throughout the area with high winds. Hill route being treated this morning with heavy rain and sleet. Positive temperatures so no action needed on lower routes. No known overnight issues.
 
Badenoch and Strathspey (as at 07:52) -  Wet roads throughout the area with high winds, heavy rain and sleet fall. Primary and Secondary routes being this morning. No known overnight issues.
 
Sutherland (as at 07:47): Wet roads wind and rain no know problems.
  
East Ross-Shire (as at 07:19) - Positive temperatures with rain and wind. No known issues.
 
Lochaber (as at 06:46): Positive road surface temperatures. Heavy rain no winter maintenance required. No other known issues.
 
Inverness (06:07) - Roads wet, no problems
  
Caithness (as at 06:03) - Positive road surface temperatures, high wind and rain. No action required this morning. No other issues to report.
