Temporary Closures Required to Permit Flit to New Archive and Registration Centre

The transfer of archives and equipment to the new Highland Archive and Registration Centre at the Bught, Inverness, will require temporary closures of existing services at Inverness Library in readiness for the opening of the new centre on Monday 26 October.

The flit will require the existing service to close as follows:

• Archive Searchroom [consultation of original documents] on Friday 28 August until Friday 23 October.

• Genealogy Service [family history service] on Friday 25 September – 23 October.

Susan Beckley, Council Archivist, said: “The Council apologises for the inconvenience this may cause to readers, but, by phasing the closure of the two services in this way, we are only closing to the public completely for a period of three weeks, thus achieving minimum disruption to our front-line service.

“We look forward to welcoming all at the new Highland Archive and Registration Centre, where facilities for consultation of the archives, and for family historians, will be greatly enhanced.”

The Registration Service, currently located at Moray House, Bank Street, Inverness,  will require to close at 1 pm on Thursday 22 October and on Friday 23 October  to allow staff to transfer to the Bught complex.
