Bugs, beasties and fossils make summer events at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery

A series of exciting workshops and events for families will take place at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery this summer.

Throughout two weeks in July, children can enjoy arts and crafts activities such as jewellery making, glass painting and making old fashioned toys in the museum’s Discovery Centre.

On Saturday 24 July there will be a drop-in event on bugs, beasties and fossils when families can find out more about various insects and marine life native to the Highlands.  Participants will be able to get close up to specimens such as starfish, bees and fossilised fish and handle whale and dolphin bones.  There will also be arts and crafts activities for families to enjoy.

Catharine Niven, Highland Council’s Senior Curator said: “At the museum, we want to share our enthusiasm for the wonderful things we have on display here.  This is a great way for families to get involved with the history and natural history of our area.”

The arts and crafts workshops are suitable for children and families and will run on weekdays between 20 – 29 July.
