Return of the Culloden history walking tour

Following on from the success of last years event, on Thursday 8 April there will be another chance to meet an array of colourful characters from Culloden’s past set against the dramatic backdrop of Culloden House and woods.

The Highland Council countryside rangers will be leading a guided wander on foot around some of the places of historical interest in the area including the Clootie Well, dovecot, old barn, stables and finishing up with tea and biscuits in the auspicious surroundings of Culloden House.

John Orr, Countryside ranger for Inverness East and Nairn said, “This is a fascinating walk through Culloden’s past. We will be starting outside Culloden House and winding our way up through Culloden woods with a few surprises on the way!”

The walk is 4km, 2.5 miles and is a little steep in places. There is a charge of £8 for adults and £4 for children and places must be booked in advance by contacting John on 01463 710786. Details of where to meet up and times will be given when bookings are made.

This event is organised as part of The Highland Council’s Planning and Development Services countryside events programme and is suitable for individuals and family groups.  All children coming along should be accompanied by an adult.

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are a partnership between The Highland Council and Scottish Natural Heritage with the aim of promoting public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and conserving wildlife.
