Highland Council winter road condition reports for Monday 23 December 2013

Road condition and gritting treatment reports by The Highland Council’s, Transport, Environmental and Community Services for the morning of Monday 23 December 2013 are as follows:

Badenoch and Strathspey
Wet snow on all routes ranging from 3-5cm in the north to 20cm in the south and are treating all routes by priority. Posted: 08:05:06

Caithness and North Sutherland 
North Sutherland from 1-2 cm on high routes very icy on some side roads, Treatment on-going by priority. A dusting of snow on Caithness high routes with a mixture of white frosts and sparkling roads on low routes. Treatment on going no problems reported. Posted: 09:28:15

Skye and Lochalsh 
Surface temperatures a little colder than forecast with patches of lying hail, slush and ice reported on parts of some roads. All Primary routes patrolled and treated where required. Additional gritters were mobilised from 8am to patrol secondary and other high level routes.

Nairn
There was a covering of ice with frozen snow on all routes first thing this morning, 3-5cm on high routes. We are treating all routes by priority. Posted: 08:12:45

Inverness
All high level routes affected by snow and ice with ice also on low level routes. We are treating by priority. Posted: 07:46:56

Ross and Cromarty
There are widespread reports of icy conditions with up to 75mm of snow on high level West coast routes.  We are continuing to treat by priority.
