Temporary road and bridge closures – Inverness and Easter Ross areas.

Motorists are being advised of temporary road and bridge closures by The Highland Council.

With immediate effect (7 August) the Gourag Bridge on the U1221 Loch Bran – Boleskine – Garthbeg Road in the Stratherrick area south of Inverness has been closed.  The closure has been made in the interests of public safety following damage caused to Gourag Bridge by a large vehicle. The temporary closure will affect vehicles and pedestrians. There will be no exemptions

There are no alternative public road diversions. This restriction will remain in force for a period of 21 days or at least until repairs have been satisfactorily completed to allow Gourag Bridge to return to full construction and use standard.

A temporary road closure of the B9166 - B9165 Junction - Balintore (Easter Ross) road from Tuesday 2 September until Saturday 6 September 2014 will also take place.

This closure is in the interest of public safety while the International Sheepdog Trials take place at Fearn. Barriers and signs will be in place while the road is closed. Two diversion routes are available. Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and any farm vehicles requiring access to properties within the closure.

Access to Anta Pottery and Fearn Aerodrome Industrial Estate will be available throughout this period. Visitors to these businesses coming from the Fearn direction will need to follow the signposted traffic diversion.
