Public meeting for B851 Sockich’s Bends – road improvement scheme

The public are invited to a second public meeting to provide a further update on The Highland Council’s road improvement at B851 Sockich’s Bends. The meeting will take place on Thursday 11 September 7 – 8pm at Farr Community Hall.

Part-time Closure of the B851 is scheduled to begin on Monday 15 September, 2014 subject to completion of upgrading works to the (light vehicle) diversion route, the C1068 Daviot – Balnafoich – Dunlichity Road.

The C1068 upgrading works are currently in progress due to be completed by Saturday 13 September, before the closure starts.

Initial work will be timber felling by Forestry Commission Scotland, with road widening works to follow thereafter.

A comprehensive traffic management plan will be in operation during these works, consisting of part-day closures, diversion route onto the Dunlichity Road for local light traffic, management of bus services and routing of heavy goods vehicle traffic.

Local residents and business interests are key to this important work and the Council seeks to minimise adverse effects as far as practical.

Council officers will be in attendance at the public meeting.
