Complaints from members of the public about food are dealt with by officers from Environmental Health.
Typical complaints include:
- Food smelling off
- Food discoloured
- Foreign body in food
- Product having been sold after its use-by date
- Food causing illness
- Unhygienic premises and food staff
Officers take these complaints very seriously, give them high priority and take appropriate enforcement action. This can involve an immediate visit to the premises where the food was sold. This is to ascertain whether the complaint was part of a bigger problem which requires to be resolved.
