Register of Interests

Members must register any interests they think will be viewed by the public as relevant.  Only Members can update their original form and all changes must be added to their original form and must include the date of the change, the date of notification and their signature. When Members are appointed to an Outside Body or Company by the Council this will not automatically be added to your Register of Interests form and Members must also update their original Register of Interests form as above with this information.

The information you fill in on the form needs to include what the offer of Hospitality is, who it is from, the date it is offered for, your signature and the date that you signed the form and received within one month of the date of hospitality offered.

Forms should then be returned to Democratic Services (Phone 01463 702118) so that it can be counter-signed by the Proper Officer, Stewart Fraser, Head of Corporate Governance.

Guidance on Declaration of Interests at Meetings

Interests which have to be declared (if known to you) may be financial or non-financial. They may or may not cover interests which are registerable in terms of the Councillors' Code of Conduct

Most of the interests to be declared will be your personal interests but, on occasion, you will have to consider whether the interests of other persons require you to make a declaration. Section 5 of the Councillor's Code of Conduct deals with; your financial interests; your non-financial interests; and the interests, financial and non-financial, of other persons.

Please see the Declaration of Interests Flowchart for further guidance.
