Progress
A summary of key forthcoming activities for the next three months is provided below:
- Flood wall construction - Wall construction complete, last wall stem poured on 25 May 2023. Cope installation ongoing. Reinstatement of verge/footway construction also ongoing;
- Plastic Piling – Works fully complete
- Rock Armour placement – Works fully complete
- Drainage works on Kilmallie Road (gully tie-ins) being progressed on residential side of road. 85% complete
- Construction of ramp and access steps onto the canal embankment adjacent to the Shinty Club is complete. Only final surfacing remains.
Final surfacing works on both Kilmallie Road and various footpaths with the works area due mid-June to mid-July;
Community Benefit Works completed as follows:- Shopping Area Resurfacing
- Soldier’s Bridge Lighting
- Christmas Tree Infrastructure
- Community Cupboard Upgrade (power and appliances)
- New Shinty Club Parking Area
- Existing Shinty Club Parking Access Upgrade
Landscaping and planting works are to commence during the bare-root planting season (November to March).

Next steps
No delays are anticipated with the project delivery however some additional works that have been added to the contract could extend completion slightly.
On the completion date, a programmed date of early August 2023 is still the target. -
