Purpose
Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs) -
Description
The Highland Council are responsible for maintaining many of the roads across The Highlands, along with associated infrastructure and highways assets. As part of our service we assess applications received from organisations or members of the public regarding requests relating to:
• Road closures and/or diversion routes.
• Suspension of a one-way street.
• Suspension of parking.As part of process associated with TTROs we may also receive objections to TTROs from members of the public.
You are giving us your personal information to allow us to determine whether your application for a temporary traffic regulation order can be approved.We may also use your information, where required, to contact you by e-mail or telephone.

If you don't give us your information
If you don't provide personal data we can't process your application.

Conditions for processing personal information
The processing of your personal information is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest – Article 6(1)(e) of UK GDPR.
Our legal basis for processing your personal information is:
o The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
o The Local Authorities' Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999 -

Who we share your information with
If an application leads to a draft order, that order will be shared with the relvenat teams within the Council and with statutory consultees including emergency services, Councillors and Community Councils. No personal data will be included in the order.
TrueViewVisuals (TVV), who provide and support the software used to process and manage TTRO and TRO requests, process the information on behalf of the Highland Council under contract.

How long we hold your information
We only keep your personal information for the minimum amount of time necessary. Sometimes this time period is set out in the law, but in most cases it is based on the business need. We maintain a records retention and disposal schedule which sets out how long we hold different types of information for.
Retention schedule for TTROs is as follows:
Rejected Application: 6 months
Approved Application: 1 Year
Temporary Traffic Notice or Order: 3 Years
