Applications for licence
We are asking customers to only submit essential applications or paperwork which should be done either using the on-line facility on the relevant pages of the Council’s website or by scanning application forms, documents etc. and e-mailing them to licensing@highland.gov.uk

Guidance on making an objection or representation in relation to an application submitted
If you wish to submit an objection or representation in relation to an application submitted under the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 further information and guidance on how to do this is available here -

Apply
A licence is required for anyone dealing knives (this includes any object with a sharp point such as a sword).
You do not need a licence for:
- Folding pocket knives whose blades do not exceed 3.5 inches in length or knives designed for domestic use
- Kirpans or skean dhus whose blades do not exceed 3.5 inches in length
- Knife blades designed for domestic use
