GGW Route Diversion along Loch Oich from the start of December 2022 to December 2024

Essential forest harvesting work will take place for two years, during which time the main path along Loch Oich will be unavailable to the public. Please use the alternate Invergarry link path instead
- Forestry and Land Scotland will be felling in the area from the start of December. Unfortunately there will be no through access for the entire two year duration.
- The public are welcome to travel to the boundary of the work site and back again, just be aware there will be no through access whatsoever. The work site is roughly 6km south of the A82 bridge at Abercalder.
- Users of the GGW should take the 'Invergarry Link' path which runs down the opposite side of the loch. Details for this section can be found in the 'Routes' section of our website. This route consists of a mix of minor roads, wide forestry roads and single track paths. Work is ongoing to improve the section of path for cyclists but please be aware that parts of this route are a little rougher and contain more up & downs than the south side path. The diversion route is 11.6km (7.2 miles) which is 4km (2.5 miles) longer than the original route.
- Diversion signs will be in place at both ends to instruct people on where to go.
