Help with small jobs around the home

Jobs the handyperson can do

A few examples of what the handyperson service can help with:

  • Changing light bulbs and tap washers
  • Moving furniture within the house
  • Securing carpets
  • Securing trailing wires and flexes
  • Putting up shelves
  • Taking down and putting up curtains or tracks
  • Unblocking sinks and baths
  • Replacing toilet seats
  • Repairing small areas of tiling
  • Resealing baths or sinks
  • Fitting grab rails and handrails
  • Fitting and repairing of locks
  • Fitting smoke or carbon monoxide alarms
  • Fitting chains and peep holes

Fit minor adaptations including:

  • Fit grab rails
  • Fit temporary ramps
  • Fit external handrails
  • Fit banister rails (stair handrails)
  • Level door thresholds

The handyperson can also install some types of specialised equipment if our staff or NHS staff assess a need, including the Telecare range of equipment.

Sometimes the handyperson may attend and find additional works that the property may need. In these cases the applicant can be referred for assistance with major repairs or adaptations, or for further assistance.

We can also offer advice for people who need to arrange for their own tradesmen for larger repairs.
