Business rates discounts - charitable organisations
Charities
Discounts are available for registered charities, social enterprises, community groups and sports clubs.
This includes licensed premises available for community use. The premises must be occupied by an organisation similar to a charity and bar takings cannot exceed 20 per cent of the property's total turnover.
If your organisation is a registered charity, listed on the register maintained by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) or the Charities Commission in England and Wales, and the property occupied by your organisation is used wholly or mainly for charitable purposes, you may be entitled to 80 percent mandatory rates relief.
We will determine whether a property is being used wholly or mainly for charitable purposes and have discretionary powers to top this relief up to 100 percent.
