Committees

A special meeting of the Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross Planning Applications and Review Committee will take place in the Royal Marine Hotel, Golf Road, Brora on Tuesday 26 June 2007, commencing with a site visit at 10.00 a.m., followed by a Hearing to be held in the Hotel (estimated commencement time of 11.30 a.m).

Members are invited to assemble at the Carpark, Royal Marine Hotel at 10 a.m. where they will board a bus which will take them to the vicinity of the site.  Two representatives of the applicant and two of those objectors who have indicated that they wish to participate in the Hearing have been invited to travel on the bus and attend the site inspection.  Members are respectfully reminded to wear footwear and clothing appropriate to the weather conditions.

At the conclusion of the site inspection, the bus will return to the Hotel where the Hearing will take place.

Members are reminded that in the determination of a planning application which is the subject of a Hearing, to be entitled to participate in any vote, Members must be present throughout all of the proceedings.

Location:      Gordonbush Estate, 12km, north west of Brora, Sutherland

Nature of Development:    Electricity Act 1989 – Section 36- Application to

the Scottish Executive to construct and operate a 35 turbine windfarm.

Recommendation:    Support

3.  Planning Application 06/01170/OUTRC Erection of Foodstore (3,400 m2) and Related Access, Parking and Servicing Arrangements (Outline) at Morangie Road, Tain, Highland.

The above application was registered with the Planning and Development Service on 11 January 2007.

In line with the provisions of Section 13 of the Town and Country (General Development Procedure) (Scotland) Order 1992, the Service wrote to the applicant on 25 January 2007 requesting additional information be supplied to the Planning Authority prior to its consideration of the planning application.  This was subsequently followed up on 4 May 2007 with a further reminder to the agent reminding them of the request for additional information.

Subsequently the Service was advised that the applicant has appealed to the Scottish Executive Inquiry Reporters Unit on the grounds of non determination by the Planning Authority.
