A meeting of the Gaelic Committee will take place in the Council Chamber, Council Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness on Wednesday, 2 March 2022 at 10.30am.
 
Webcast Notice: This meeting will be filmed and broadcast over the Internet on the Highland Council website and will be archived and available for viewing for 12 months thereafter.

Members are asked to consider whether they have an interest to declare in relation to any item on the agenda for this meeting.  Any Member making a declaration of interest should indicate whether it is a financial or non-financial interest and include some information on the nature of the interest.   Advice may be sought from Officers prior to the meeting taking place.

4. World Gaelic Week
 
There is circulated Report No. G/1/22 dated 16 February 2022 by the Executive Chief Officer Performance and Governance.  Ms Joy Dunlop, Director and Mr Grant McFarlane, Administrator of World Gaelic Week will attend the meeting and will give a presentation on the first World Gaelic Week.
 
The Committee is invited to comment on and:-
 
i.  note the World Gaelic Week initiative; and
ii. agree the proposed Highland Council events which will contribute to the World Gaelic Week initiative.
 
5. Royal National Mòd 2021
 
There will follow Report No. G/2/22 by the Executive Chief Officer Performance and Governance.
 
6. Progress Against Gaelic Language Plan 3
 
There is circulated Report No. G/3/22 dated 16 February 2022 by the Executive Chief Officer Performance and Governance.
 
The Committee is invited to:-
 
i.   consider the progress made in both monitoring and implementing Gaelic Language Plan (GLP) 3 on a quarterly basis utilising the Performance and Risk Management System support delivery of GLP3;
ii.  note the progress and challenges regarding the implementation of some enabling actions in the Plan;
iii. note that challenges are largely due to the pandemic, which has impacted some projected project implementation and completion dates.  However, the Gaelic Team have and continue to endeavour to adapt to an on-line or a bended approach to deliver the enabling actions.
 
7. Gaelic Language Plan Renewal
 
There is circulated Report No. G/4/22 dated 16 February 2022 by the Executive Chief Officer Performance and Governance.
 
The Committee is invited to:-
 
i.   consider the process for Gaelic Language Plan renewal;
ii.  note the planning implications and challenges regarding the renewal process; and
iii. agree that Gaelic language plans are unique to each public authority and subsequent editions of Gaelic language plans should show incremental progress towards delivery of the corporate service aims over time.
 
8. Supporting and Growing Gaelic in our Communities - Workshop
 
There is circulated Report No. G/5/22 dated 16 February 2022 by the Executive Chief Officer Performance and Governance.
 
The Committee is invited to:-
 
i.  consider the outline of the workshop; and
ii. discuss and agree the proposed outcomes.
