Your chance to cast your vote for Badenoch & Strathspey community projects
Community, voluntary and non-profit organisations based in Badenoch & Strathspey will come together on Saturday 25 February to present their ideas to the public in hope of receiving a grant of between £200 and £2000.
The call for groups to come up with ideas on how to make their local area better has received a great response and on the 25 February at the Building a Better Badenoch & Strathspey event at the Village Hall in Carrbridge around 35 presentations will be made.
Doors will open at 9:15 for a 10:00 am start. Each applicant will be given a 2 minute presentation slot and then will be quizzed by the audience for a further 2 minutes. Organisations will highlight how their project will improve the local community. All attendees will then be asked to vote to determine which projects are funded.
Local Ward Councillors, Jaci Douglas, Bill Lobban, Gregor Rimell and Dave Fallows are pleased to see so many applications for the Building a Better Badenoch & Strathspey participatory grant fund. They encourage everyone to come along to find out what is happening locally and cast his or her vote to help decide which projects are funded.
Members said; “It is important that as many people to attend as possible so that the projects that are funded are a reflection of the priorities in the area. The event is more than just a way of distributing funding and we hope that it will be an opportunity for the whole community to come together.”
Any individual who wishes to vote must register between 9:15 and 10.00 am and stay for the whole event. To be eligible to vote you must live in the Badenoch & Strathspey area. There is no parking at the hall but here is ample parking in the car park opposite the hall with overspill at the primary school.
