Broadford Registrar Retires After 40 Years.

A Highland Registrar who registered births, deaths and marriages in her own home for the past 40 years retires this week.
 
Mrs Janet Donaldson, Highland Council’s Registrar at  Broadford retires on Friday (29 September). Following Mrs Donaldson’s retirement, all registration business will be provided temporarily from Kyle Service Point,  Hamilton, House,  Plock Road, Kyle of Lochalsh  Tel:  01599 534270 by Mrs. Joyce Smith, Registrar at Kyle
 
Highland Councillor Hamish Fraser, Local Member for  Skye Central  presented a Long Service Award to Mrs Donaldson on behalf of The Highland Council along with Margaret Straube, Chief Registrar who presented gifts from her colleagues in registration.
 
Councillor Fraser said: “This is a tremendous record of achievement for one person to have delivered a continuous registration service in the same local area for four decades. On behalf of The Highland Council, I congratulate Mrs Donaldson on her long service and wish her well in her retirement.”
 
Chief Registrar Margaret Straube said: “ In her duties as Registrar Mrs Donaldson has been very flexible and welcomed members of the public into her home, where she has provided a professional front line service, for forty years.  Despite the many complex changes to the registration process over the years, she adapted well to all of them.  She will be missed by the local community and by her many colleagues in registration.”
