Alternative route to Canal Tow Path as new Canal Parks takes shape

work underway

With the closure of the rugby playing season, works to demolish the old rugby club house and the upgrading and regrading/layouts of the existing grass pitches and the construction of a new 4G synthetic rugby pitch to International Rugby standard are in full swing.

To enable these works to be completed for the next rugby season later in the summer, works are progressing on all fronts .

As work continues to the New Rugby Club House, pitches and car park, presently being constructed as part of the Inverness West Link Stage 1 Project ,  it is necessary to close the existing Canal Parks Car Park to allow construction works to progress.

Access to the Caledonian Canal tow path form this location will now be temporally via the car park at Whin Park. There is a signed route for walkers from this location to the Caledonian Canal tow path.

It is expected this arrangement will remain in place until the end of August 2017, when the new access routes are completed and opened to the public. Highland Council apologises for any inconvenience this necessary measure may cause and, along with Contractor, Wills bros, will endeavour to minimise disruption to the public at this time.
