The Highland Council in conjunction with The Royal British Legion Scotland Inverness Branch will hold a memorial service at Cavell Gardens, Inverness on Friday 1st September at 7.15am to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele which started on 31st July 1917 and ended on the 6th November 1917 in Belgium.

The service will be conducted by the Reverend Alastair Murray BD Padre to the Inverness Branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland.

The service is open to all those who wish to mark the occasion and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we that are left can live in peace.

The Battle of Passchendaele was a fierce and bloody battle and in which so many lives were lost on all sides,

Men and woman came from all parts of the commonwealth to fight and laid down their lives so that we can be here today to remember them with honour and never forget them.

“Lest we forget, at the going down of the sun we will remember them.”
