May Day walk in Smithton Woods.

A May Day woodland hunt for younger children has been organised by Highland Council’s Countryside Ranger John Orr.

From 2 till 3pm on Monday 7th May, John will lead a fun-filled guided walk at Smithton Woods near Culloden.

John Orr said: “This is a fun family event involving lots of hands on activities which will appeal particularly to younger children. Smithton Woods has lots of nooks and crannies for hiding secret treasure and the local wildlife will give us a hand to find it. The local plants and animals will be giving us clues to help find treasure as we make our way around this beautiful mini woodland.”

The event is organised as part of The Highland Council’s Planning and Development Services countryside events programme.  This is suitable for individuals and family groups and is free to attend. Booking is required. To book a place or for further information telephone 01463 702932.

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are a partnership between The Highland Council and Scottish Natural Heritage with the aim of promoting public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and conserving wildlife.
