Special Achievement Award for Grantown Grammar pupil

Grantown Grammar pupil Rebecca Gilchrist has won the Special Achievement Award at the Sports Moray award ceremony which was held yesterday. 

The award is given to an individual who has attained an outstanding personal achievement in sport through overcoming adversity.   Rebecca, who is in S3 has fibromyalgia and last year was the Female Scottish Paraclimb Champion, something she is hoping to retain in 2017.  She is currently competing in preliminary rounds and hopes to be selected as the youngest member of the Team GB Paraclimbing squad.

Grantown Grammar School Headteacher Claire McGonigal said: “The whole school is extremely proud of Rebecca and we will be backing her all the way as she aims to win a place in the Team GB squad.”
