Next meeting of Easter Ross Community Partnership

The Easter Ross Community Partnership will meet in Knockbreck Primary School, Ankerville Street, Tain on Wednesday 21st March 2018 at 7 pm.

This will be the Partnership's seventh meeting and the second to be held in Tain. There will be updates on the plan for services to children, the plan for services to adults and the first of the Locality Plans, for the Seaboard villages.

The Partnership’s Chair, Mark Loynd of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “The Balintore and wider Seaboard community have provided us with their views on what needs to be improved and their ideas for achieving this.  They have also told us about the strengths of the community and the opportunities it can offer.  The Partnership has listened carefully and has developed five improvement aims and sixteen initial action areas for the Seaboard Locality Plan.

It was very encouraging that our last meeting was attended by a significant number of residents from the Seaboard villages.   Together we carried out an initial confirmation that their Locality Plan was addressing all their key concerns.  We also began to identify more specific local actions, along with the best combination of partnership agencies and community members to start to make these things happen on the ground.”

The Easter Ross Community Partnership has also begun speaking to people in Alness about the development of their Locality Plan.  This requires real quality contact across the whole community.  Partnership members will be meeting with the many active groups in the area.  A Place Standard survey is also being circulated to collect the opinions of as many people as possible to help identify the benefits and challenges experienced by Alness residents.

Mark stated, “We want local people to really influence how their key services operate in Alness.  The more detail we get from the community, the better informed we will be in developing local initiatives that will really tackle inequalities experienced by residents.”

The focus of the meeting will be confirming action teams to ensure collaboration between key agencies and community members in the Seaboard area to deliver the aims of their Locality Plan.   The strategy for achieving effective community engagement in Alness will also be decided.

The Partnership has now set dates and locations for its meetings for the rest of 2018, as follows (information on venues for the meetings will be promoted in due course):

  • Wednesday 16 May in Alness
  • Wednesday 19 September in Balintore
  • Wednesday 21 November in Milton.
