A890 Stromeferry Bypass works

Plans are being put in place by The Highland Council for the next phase of works to the rock face at the A890 Stromeferry Bypass.

Essential stabilisation works will begin on 3rd September 2018 on a 72 metre section of rock face close to the west of the avalanche shelter.

The rock face is in a single track road section, immediately adjacent to the railway track.

The works will take 12 weeks to complete and the route will be closed to vehicles over 7.5 tonnes during this time.

A road to rail diversion will be available to vehicles less than this limit at times during the day when no trains are scheduled.

This diversion will be controlled by traffic lights and convoy vehicles and will only operate during the day.  Signs will be erected on the road network to notify drivers in advance of the restrictions.

Publication of the road closure orders will be made later this year.
