19 students from Gaelscoil Neachtain, Dungiven in County Derry came to visit Primary 6 and 7 Gaelic Medium pupils in Bun-sgoil Shlèite this week.

The children spent 2 days participating in a variety of activities, including drama with Catriona Lexy Campbell, shinty with Danny Steele from Highlife Highland as well as archery, shelter building and team building games led by Whitewave Activities.

The Highland Council’s Gaelic Team provided support and organised the outdoor activities.

The visit was brought to a close with a cèilidh for the entire school where the visitors and pupils from Bun-sgoil Shlèite shared their respective cultures and talents.

All activities were held through the medium of Gaelic as part of wider learning about other Celtic nations and languages.

Head Teacher, Hazel Morrison said, “It was a valuable and enjoyable experience for all pupils and teachers, to be able to share their respective languages and cultures, and one we look forward to repeating in the future.”
