Search begins for new Chief Executive

The Highland Council has approved the recruitment process for a new Chief Executive to replace Steve Barron when he retires in the autumn.

Applicants are invited to apply for this important top position to lead one of the largest local authorities in Europe, by the 31 July.

Leader of the Council Margaret Davidson said:

“We want our Chief Executive to be outward looking with  statesman/stateswoman like skills. They will need to have strategic vision, excellent partnering ability and commitment to high quality public services, with a real understanding of what it means to provide leadership in a democratic environment. Above all, we want a person who is committed to openness, fairness and accountability, with a desire to help us make public services in the Highlands the very best they can be.”
