Nairn Academy are delighted to have been awarded the LGBT Bronze Charter Award by LGBT Youth Scotland which recognises the school’s work on equality.

The Academy is the first school in the Highlands to be awarded this prestigious accolade.

This involved working with their active Equality Forum, a group of 20 pupils, who have been instrumental in recognising and valuing diversity allowing pupils to learn in a supportive environment.

They have created resources, policies, commemorated important historical days in the LGBT calendar and led sessions to staff across the Northern Alliance.

The school is giving a presentation with pupils, parents and representatives from Highland Council next Tuesday 25th September 2018 to celebrate their achievement and visitors to the school will have the pleasure of viewing their brighter new rainbow entrance to the school.
