Success at the Mòd for Clann Thròndairnis from Skye.

Clann Thròndairnis from Skye won top prize in the Folk Group Competition for Under 13 year olds at the Royal National Mòd in Dunoon which was formally opened last Friday.

The delighted young attend schools in the Tròndairnis area and were one of the folk groups from across Scotland in the competition. Each group performed two songs of their own choice, with accompaniment of musical instruments.

Clann Thròndairnis also won other significant competitions in the children’s categories’ at the Mòd.

For the 10th year running The Highland Council has supported this competition, and this year, the winning group received £500 prize from Wipro Limited, a leading global information technology, consulting and business process Services Company.

Councillor Alister Mackinnon, Chair of the Highland Council’s Gaelic Strategy and Implementation Group, said: “This is an excellent competition, as the young people are able to select their own choice, which can be accompanied by musical instruments if they desire. The young people do perform to such a high standard. Congratulations to everyone who took part.”
