Head Teacher Appointed

A permanent Head Teacher for Strathdearn Primary School, Tomatin has been appointed.  She is Mrs Kathleen MacRae from Shawbost, Isle of Lewis, who has been Acting Head Teacher at the school since August 2007. 

Mrs MacRae has worked for the last 9 years in schools in the Isle of Lewis, Aberdeen, and within Highland including Central Primary in Inverness, Coulhill Primary in Alness and North Kessock Primary.

She said:  “I am absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead Strathdearn Primary School; it’s a fantastic school in a very welcoming and vibrant community.”

The Chairman of The Highland Council’s Education, Culture and Sport Committee, Councillor Bill Fernie said:  “We are delighted to have appointed Mrs Macrae who has been covering the post for the last 4 months.  I am sure that parents, pupils and staff of the school will welcome the stability of permanent leadership.”

The school, which opened in November 2002, has 47 pupils in the primary and 6 in the nursery.
