A landslip has deposited approximately 9000T of soil and rock half way along the Highland Council public road which connects Loch Garry to Kinloch Hourn near Kingie.

The slip has also disrupted the main overhead power line.

An SSE Geologist and a Highland Council Senior Engineer were on site this morning to carry out a Geological assessment.

An Emergency Liaison Group Meeting has been held with relevant officers and representatives from Emergency Services. This resulted in a plan being put in place to deal with the effects of the landslip.

A contractor has been mobilised to carry out the necessary clear up works and a Health & Safety assessment of the hills stabilisation will be carried out before the contractor starts work.

The route will remain closed while work to clean up the debris takes place.
