25 candidates stand for Cairngorms National Park Authority elections.

There will be a contest in four of the five communities within the Cairngorms National Park area entitled to have a representative on the Board of the Park Authority.

The uncontested ward is Ward 4 - Moray with the main communities of Cockbridge, Glenlivet, Strathdon and Tomintoul. The successful candidate - who will be declared elected from 21 March 2019, is Eleanor Christina Mackintosh.

A total of 24 candidates will contest the other 4 wards. Ballot papers will be posted to all eligible electors in each of the 4 wards where there is a contest on Tuesday 26 February 2019, and must be returned by 4pm on Thursday 21 March 2019, if they are to be included in the counting of votes.

The counting of the votes will take place on Thursday 21 March 2019 commencing at 5pm at Aviemore Community Centre for Wards 1, 2  and 3; and the Victoria and Albert Halls, Station Square in Ballater for Ward 5.

Elections are held every four years to elect 5 community representatives to serve on the board of the Cairngorms National Park Authority. One community member will be elected for each of the 5 wards within the national park area.
