Surfacing improvements - A82 north of Fort William - Works start Monday 21 October for four days

Motorists using the A82 north of Fort William are set to benefit from an improved road surface as surfacing improvements are set to begin next week.

The £120,000 investment by Transport Scotland will see improvements to a 1km section of the A82 north of Fort William near the “Great Glen Cattle Ranch”, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.

The improvements are scheduled to start on Monday 21 October and will take four days to complete. The project will take place between 7am and 7pm each day with expected completion by 7pm on Thursday 24 October.

To ensure the safety of road workers and road users, temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in place during the project. All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours to keep disruption to a minimum, however a speed restriction of 30mph will remain in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

“We’ve taken steps to help minimise disruption for road users as much as possible during the project by programming works to avoid the weekend period. The traffic management in place is essential for ensuring the safety of road workers and road users, however our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.
