Ged a tha obair fhathast ri chrìochnachadh air an taobh a-muigh, chaidh an togalach a thoirt seachad a rèir a’ chlàr-ama agus taobh a-staigh a’ bhuidseit £2.1M.

Thuirt Iain MacFhionnlaigh, Cathraiche Comataidh an Fhoghlaim: “Tha e math a bhith a’ faicinn na h-obrach seo deiseil gus coinneachadh an dà chuid ri feumalachdan na sgoile agus cuideachd gus taic a chur ri leudachadh Tràth-ionnsachaidh is Cùraim-chloinne. Tha mi cinnteach gum bi luchd-obrach, pàrantan, agus sgoilearan uile air an dòigh gu bheil am pròiseact cudromach seo deiseil.”

Thuirt Iain Dòmhnallach, manaidsear obraichean sònraichte aig Morgan Sindall Construction ann an Alba: “Tha togail mòidealach air a chleachdadh barrachd a-nis ann am foghlam, gu h-àraid seach gu bheil e a’ tabhann togail luath agus deagh chàileachd, agus nach eil seo a’ cur cus dragh air ruith na sgoile an coimeas ri dòighean-obrach thraidiseanta.

“Tha comas cuideachd ann na h-aonadan a leudachadh ma bhios feum air barrachd àite san àm ri teachd.

“Tha deagh dhàimhean co-obrachaidh againn an dà chuid le Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd agus Frèam-obrach SPA agus tha sinn fìor thoilichte am pròiseact mu dheireadh seo a thoirt seachd air thoiseach air a’ chlàr-ama.”

New annexe for Gaelic school in Inverness completed

Pupils moved into a new annexe adjacent to Bun-Sgoil Ghaidhlig Inbhir Nis, the Gaelic Primary School in Inverness, immediately after New Year.

The new building houses the School’s Early Level department (Roinn na Tràth Ìre) and comprises two nursery classrooms, two primary classrooms, a production kitchen, dining area, offices and other facilities.

It will provide the nursery accommodation required to meet the expansion of free Early Learning and Childcare provision for three-and-four-year-olds from August 2020 as well increasing the capacity of the primary school to address the roll pressures there.

Works were carried out by Morgan Sindall and managed by the Council’s Development and Infrastructure Service.

While there are still some external works still to complete, the building was handed over on time and within the £2.1M budget.

Chairman of the Education Committee, John Finlayson said: “It is good to see this work completed to meet both the needs of the school and also to support the expansion of Early Learning and Childcare. I am sure staff parents and pupils will all be delighted with the completion of this important project.”

Ian MacDonald, special works manager at Morgan Sindall Construction in Scotland, said: “Modular construction is being adopted quickly in education, largely due to the speed and quality it offers, along with relative lack of disruption to school life in comparison to traditional methods.

“The expandable nature of the units also means facilities can be further extended to meet future demand for school places.

The kitchen will also supply meals to other nurseries in the Inverness area.

“We have great collaborative relationships with both The Highland Council and the SPA Framework, and we’re very pleased to hand over this latest project ahead of schedule.”
