Roads Maintenance Programme for Badenoch and Strathspey approved

roads maintenance

Members today approved the 2020/21 Roads Maintenance Programme for the Badenoch and Strathspey Area.

The programme is based on the current priorities but may of course be subject to change.

The Environment, Development and Infrastructure (EDI) Committee local allocations budget has not yet been determined so the roads maintenance programme is based on the 2019/20 budget. Should the budget change then the programme will either be curtailed or increased as appropriate.

Included in the approved road maintenance schedule are, for example:

  • Surface dressing works on the B970 Nethy Bridge (Mondhuie, Balliemore) road
  • Edge strengthening works are planned for the A939 Bridge of Brown
  • Surface dressing on the B9102 (Tulchan Lodge) road
  • Overlay works are planned for the C1137 Glentrium road
  • Surface dressing on the B9102 (Craigvarren) road

Reconstruction and surfacing works are also scheduled on the U2375 Finlarig road and a cattle grid replacement has been scheduled for the U2114 Glenbanchor road in Newtonmore.

The B970 (Culreach, Balliefurth) road is also in line for surface dressing.

The Badenoch and Strathspey roads maintenance programme has been approved by local councillors pending confirmation of the Council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee budget allocations for the area. The indicative programme is based on current engineering and safety priories and may alter if significant events impact priorities and resources.
