Birth Registration services resuming from Monday

From Monday 29 June 2020 The Highland Council will be in a position to resume birth registrations. 

As birth registrations have been suspended since late March, we have a backlog to work through and it is important that we register these events in date order wherever possible.

Approximate Birth Registration timescales –

Week commencing 29 June – for babies who were born before and up to 5 April 2020

Week commencing 6 July – for babies who were born between 6 April to 3 May

Week commencing 13 July – for babies born between 4 May to 31 May

Week commencing 20 July – for babies born between 1 June to 28 June

Please contact the office in which you wish to register the birth of your child, during the suggested week above. The staff will discuss an appropriate time for you to register.

Your appointment will mainly be conducted by telephone, however you will be required to attend the office to sign the register page. The Registrar will arrange a time for you to do this, and will explain the protocols in place for your appointment.
