Cluster Ceilidh At Charleston Academy

The inaugural Charleston Cluster Ceilidh takes place this afternoon (Thursday, 18 January 2007) at Charleston Academy in Inverness, bringing together 120 primary six pupils from Charleston’s seven cluster primaries.

The schools are Beauly Primary, Dochgarroch Primary, Kinmylies Primary, Kirkhill Primary, Muirtown Primary, Teanassie Primary and Tomnacross Primary.

Last term the visiting PE specialist, Pam Shore, taught Scottish ceilidh dancing to pupils.  Pam said: “I feel the cluster ceilidh is a great opportunity for the pupils to practice their dancing and meet with other pupils from the other schools in the cluster.  I’m sure it’ll be a lot of fun.”

The ceilidh has been organised in conjunction with Kirsten Grant, the Active Schools Coordinator, and is the first event planned by the Charleston school cluster as part of Highland 2007, the year Scotland celebrates Highland culture.

The ceilidh is also part of the cluster’s Healthy Highland Week 2007 programme, where children throughout the Highlands are encouraged to think about and live a more active, healthier lifestyle.
