Temporary road closures in Ross and Cromarty

Motorists are being advised by The Highland Council that there will temporary road closures in the Ross and Cromarty area this December in 3 locations at Dingwall, North Kessock; and Lair Railway Bridge Achnashellach.

George Street – Dingwall

A temporary road closure to the section of the U4489 George Street, will extend from its junction with the U4521 High Street northwards, for a total distance of around 100 metres at 08:00 until 16:30 on Wednesday 2 December 2020.

The closure has been made to allow Scottish Water to work safely while carrying out essential repair works.

Pedestrian and emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.  

Mill Crescent North Kessock

There will be a temporary road closure on a section of the U2613 Mill Crescent North Kessock.

The closure will start at the entrance to No 8 Mill Crescent and extend north westwards for a total distance of around 40 metres from 08.00 on Friday 11 December 2020 to 18.00 on Saturday 12  December 2020.

The temporary closure is to allow British Telecom Engineers to work safely while carrying out essential upgrade works.

Lair Railway Bridge - Achnashellach

A temporary road closure will be in place for a section of the A890 Achnasheen – Achnashellach – Strathcarron – Ardnarff Road, extending from a point of around 9850 metres east of its junction with the A896 Strathcarron - Kinlochewe road, generally north eastwards for a distance of 1000 metres.

The closure is to allow Network Rail engineers’ inspection of the Lair railway bridge to be carried out safely.

The closure comes into force from 22:00 on Tuesday 15 December 2020 until 06:00 on Wednesday 16 December 2020. 

Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained, and an alternative route will be available for vehicular traffic.
