Highland Council winter road condition report for Wednesday 30 December

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for Wednesday 30 December 2020 are as follows:

Lochalsh and Ross and Cromarty West
Posted at 09:11 Snow and ice affecting all routes and all routes are being treated with heavy salting. Bealach na Ba C1087 remains closed because of snow.

Ross and Cromarty East

Posted at 08:40 All routes are being treated this morning. Snow showers are covering primary networks and treatment is ongoing.

Caithness

Posted at 08:19 Frost is reported on all routes this morning, with some icy patches. There is a light covering of snow in the north west of the county, with a maximum of 1.5 inches of snow. All routes are being treated as necessary with no other issues reported.

Sutherland
Posted at 09:23 All routes affected by snow with snowfall continuing with in excess of 1 inch of fresh snowfall since patrols earlier this morning. There is up to 12 inches of snow affecting the A894 between Sliag Junction and Kylesku.

Skye and Lochalsh

Posted at 08:49 There is a light dusting of snow throughout the area and road surface temperatures are reported as well below zero. Routes are being treated this morning with priority routes receiving treatment first. There are no other issues reported.

Lochaber

Posted at 08:51 Very low temperatures were reported overnight as was forecasted. All primary routes have received treatment and secondary routes treatment is ongoing. There are winter snow showers on some of the highest routes with no other issues reported.

Nairn

Posted at 09:14 Ice and frost are present on roads. There were low overnight temperatures and all routes are being treated this morning.

Inverness
Posted at 06:36 Frost reported on roads this morning with light snow showers predicted for this afternoon.

Badenoch and Strathspey
Posted at 09:17 Ice is present with a light covering of snow on roads. All roads are being treated this morning with no other problems reported.
