Highland Council winter road condition report for Wednesday, 6 January 2021

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for Wednesday, 6 January 2021 are as follows:

Lochalsh and Ross and Cromarty West
Posted at 10:16 Very cold (down to -9 in some parts) overnight temperatures. Mostly dry roads. Some isolated icy patches. Treatment still ongoing. No reported overnight WM issues.

Ross and Cromarty East
Posted at 08:16  Grey frost and icy patches. All roads being treated. No known issues.

Caithness
Posted at 08:06 Sub-zero temperatures on all routes with a mix of damp roads and a good white frost, treating all routes as necessary. No other known issues to report.

Sutherland
Posted at 08:22 Some localized hard packed snow on secondary routes, roads being treated as necessary.

Skye and Lochalsh
Posted at 09:11 Minus road surface temperatures and light rain showers this morning requiring driver caution (Minus 7.7C at 04:30am). Primary and Secondary routes being treated, with treatments extending onto Other routes and footways. No problems to report overnight.

Lochaber
Posted at 08:39 Very low temperatures with isolated icy patches all routes have been treated.

Nairn
Posted at 08:29 Frosty roads, being treated with salt as necessary.

Inverness
Posted at 06:23 Patchy grey frost on roads and icy where there is seepage, all roads to be gritted today.

Badenoch and Strathspey
Posted at 08:13 Frosty patches, some localised hard packed snow, roads being treated as necessary.
