The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.
Road condition reports for Tuesday, 12 January 2021 are as follows:
Ross and Cromarty East
Posted at 08:50 All routes being treated this morning, mixed conditions primary routes generally okay on lower ground but good sparkle and frost on higher sections. Secondary and other routes affected by ice and hard packed snow.
Caithness
Posted at 08:20 Dusting snow on high routes, lower routes mix of white frosts & sparkling roads, all being treated by priority, no issues reported.
Sutherland
Posted at 07:53 Frozen snow and ice throughout the area, and a fresh light cover of snow on some higher routes. All currently being treated. No known issues.
Skye and Lochalsh
Posted at 07:54 Primary routes generally dry with few reported hazards. Secondary routes generally dry. Secondary routes to be completed before checking higher / troublesome spots on other routes.
Lochaber
Posted at 08:41 Widespread frost and icy patches, ongoing treatment on secondary routes.
Nairn
Posted at 08:10 Widespread frost and icy patches, some packed snow - roads being treated as necessary.
Inverness
Posted at 06:19 Frozen snow and ice on roads this morning, dry overhead. Treating all routes and footpaths.
Badenoch and Strathspey
Posted at 08:02 Widespread frost and icy patches, some packed snow - roads being treated as necessary.
Lochalsh and Ross and Cromarty West
Posted at 11:00 All roads being treated, Sallachy road still passable under supervision until inspections can be undertaken. No other known issues overnight.
