Council’s plans to invest in housing discussed by local committee

At today’s meeting of the Black Isle, Dingwall and Seaforth Committee members had the opportunity to consider the Highland’s draft Strategic Housing Investment Plan and, following discussions, provide comments for further consideration by the Council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee.

Strategic Housing Investment Plans (SHIPs) are developed in line with Scottish Government guidance which sets a submission date of mid-December 20. The draft SHIP was agreed by the Economy and Infrastructure Committee at the meeting held on 4 November 2020 on the basis that there would be consideration of any subsequent comments received from Area Committees.

The Plan’s programme within Black Isle, Dingwall and Seaforth area includes a range of new affordable housing units spread over a number of locations that includes the redevelopment of a derelict site of a former pub in Conon Bridge and a former hardware shop with adjoining house on Mill Street in Dingwall.

Communities where developments are planned include Avoch, Conon Bridge, Culblokie, Dingwall, Muir of Ord, Maryburgh and Rosemarkie.

Members appreciated the chance to review progress, look at timescales and give feed-back on plans to provide much needed affordable homes in communities.
