Highland Council winter road condition report for Wednesday, 27 January 2021

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for Wednesday, 27 January 2021 are as follows:

Lochaber

Posted at 06:16. Temperature above zero, rain route nine to be checked for snow. No overnight issues.

Skye and Raasay

Posted at 08:15. Variable road temps minus -1 this morning in North Skye. Primaries treated. Secondary routes being treated currently - no problems to report. Treatment will extend to other routes with particular focus on compacted snow problems affecting Minginish routes - Eynort, Glenbrittle and Talisker.

Ross & Cromarty East.

Posted at 08:21. No issues to report this morning, temperature above zero at daylight, all the primary and secondary routes checked and treated. No sign of frost, odd section with a light covering of snow on higher ground but tracks all black.

Caithness

Posted at 08:12. Mixture of wet and damp roads with stretches of frost and ice on all routes - treatment continuing.

Inverness

Posted at 06:14. Wet roads this morning with a small amount of snow on higher roads. Temperature around zero all over. Covering all routes and footpaths.

Sutherland

Posted at 08:41. Frost and patchy ice affecting most routes with a very slight dusting of snow on the highest routes in the north of Sutherland. Routes being treated as necessary.

Nairn

Posted at 07:18. Lower roads damp, frosty on high roads which are being treated as necessary.

Badenoch and Strathspey

Posted at 07:13. Some localised patches of snow. Widespread frost, some icy patches across area. Roads being treated.

Lochalsh and Ross & Cromarty West

Posted at 08:42. Temperature rising, some icy patches being treated, no known overnight issues.
