Highland Council winter road condition report for Wednesday, 3 February 2021
Maps of the Council’s gritting routes by priority and policy are available online at www.highland.gov.uk/gritting
The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Badenoch and Strathspey
Posted at 07:29. 3 cms snow generally across the area, deeper snow levels on higher routes. Drifting on exposed roads A939 Dava to Grantown, and Grantown to Tomintoul - both sections closed due to drifting snow. All resources deployed treating roads.
Lochalsh and Ross & Cromarty West
Posted at 08:08. Sub-zero overnight road surface temperatures. Treatment plan implemented. Some drifting snow at the Fain, that is being presently dealt with. Treatment is ongoing.
Strong overnight night winds have caused the The Fain to drift. There is a JCB digger dispatched to assist in the clearing of the drifted snow and another snow plough has been redirected to assist in the effort. The section (1 mile) is passable with care. We anticipate it should be reopened to both lanes by mid-morning (10:00).
The UK Met Office currently has a yellow weather warning in place for snow for some areas within the Highland region. Track any changes to this weather warning throughout the course of the day here: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/
