Highland Council winter road condition report for Thursday, 4 February 2021

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for Thursday, 4 February 2021 are as follows:

Lochaber

Posted at 08:17.  Sleet showers throughout routes, modest wind still present. All Primary and Secondary routes complete. No other incidents reported.

Skye and Raasay

Posted at 09:05.  Snow showers affecting north Skye with some minor accumulations.  No problems reported in south Skye.  Primary routes have been treated and treatment on secondary and other routes continuing.

Caithness

Posted at 08:02.  Low temperatures with snow showers forecast, roads mainly damp and some inland routes and around Thurso had a very light dusting of snow, treating all routes as necessary.  No other issues to report.

Inverness

Posted at 06:37.  Dusting of snow on roads, all roads to be gritted this morning ahead of snow forecast.

Sutherland

Posted at 08:31.  Low ground mainly damp roads, high ground up to 12cm of snow with drifting in places mainly in the Central area of the county.  All routes being bladed & treated as necessary ahead of more snow forecast this afternoon.

Nairn

Posted at 07:59.  Dusting of snow and frosty patches at lower levels.  2 – 3cms snow on higher routes with drifting.  B9007 Glenferness and A939 Dava remain closed due to drifting snow.

Badenoch and Strathspey

Posted at 07:56.  2 – 3 cms of snow across low roads.  More snow on higher routes with drifting on high, exposed locations. A939 Dava, A939 Bridge of Brown and B9007 Glenferness remain closed due to drifting snow.  All resources deployed in treating roads.

Lochalsh and Ross & Cromarty West

Posted at 08:53.  The Fain and Bealach na Ba still closed.  Knockan is affected by drifting snow, Coastal routes all clear of snow.  No other known overnight issues.
