Highland Council winter road condition report for Thursday, 11 February 2021

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.
Road condition reports for Thursday, 11 February 2021 are as follows:
Lochalsh and Ross & Cromarty West
Posted at 07:35. Generally dry, very low road surface temperatures with the odd icy patch where water crossing the road. All routes being treated as required. No issues reported overnight.
Lochaber
Posted at 08:26. All routes remaining dry with some icy patches in damper areas, road surface temperatures will remain very low throughout the day. All primary and secondary routes have been treated. No overnight issues.
Skye and Raasay
Posted at 08:46. Another cold dry night with a light frost in North Skye. Sufficient residual salt on road surfaces. No issues reported overnight.
Caithness
Posted at 08:45. Main routes mixture of dry/damp roads with touches of frost. Secondary routes have hard packed snow and ice. All routes being treated with 50/50 salt/sand mix, including footways. No known issues overnight.
Inverness
Posted at 09:53. Cold morning with road surface termperatures around -12. Roads starting to dry out. Covering all routes and footpaths. No known issues.
Sutherland
Posted at 08:19. Hard frost throughout the area with temperatures as low as -20 degrees. Central and Eastern routes still have some hard packed snow around. All routes currently being treated in order of priority. The B9176 Struie hill road remains closed.
Nairn
Posted at 07:53. Frosty roads, icy patches with some areas of packed snow - roads being treated as necessary.
Badenoch and Strathspey
Posted at 07:57. Dry roads, no winter action necessary. Nethybridge to Corriechullie and the Dorback roads are passable with care. The B9007 Ferness to Duthil, the Lochindorb road and the A939 Grantown to Bridge of Brown roads all still closed due to drifting snow – works are ongoing to deal with the situation.
Ross and Cromarty East
Posted at 08:55. Very low temperatures across the network. Primary routes all drying out with some hard packed snow and ice on secondary and others. All routes being treated this morning. No known issues.
