Gaelic Day to highlight benefits of bilingualism

Parents of young children aged 0–5 years who may wish to find out information on the Benefits of bilingualism and Early Years Gaelic Medium Education are invited to an online Latha Gàidhlig (Gaelic Day) on Saturday 27 March which commences at 10.30am.

The day’s event has been organised by Highland Council’s Gaelic Team in conjunction with Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

A warm welcome is extended from the Council’s Gaelic Team to new and existing parents to come along to the live event where they will have the opportunity to engage with Gaelic organisations and educational representatives.

The programme includes a parent forum and live question and answer section with a leading language specialist.

To conclude the event there will be a live fun interactive singing session for both parents and their children and a pre-recorded Family Ceilidh organised by Fèis Rois.

Lena Walker, Highland Council’s Gaelic Development Manager said, “This is an excellent opportunity for parents to find out more about Gaelic Medium Education and bilingualism. It is important that parents are informed of the benefits and opportunities which are part of a Gaelic Medium Education but equally important is the chance to hear from educationalists and other parents about these benefits and the support available to children and parents. This event is a great chance for parents who are considering GME to share their views and to have their questions answered.”
