Almost £10,000 HCCF grants approved by Black Isle, Dingwall & Seaforth Committee

Two applications for grant funding from the Highland Coastal Communities Fund (HCCF) were approved by Members at the Black Isle, Dingwall and Seaforth Area Committee today.

Maryburgh Men’s Shed had applied for a grant of £5,000 to refurbish the former Maryburgh Primary School and transform it into a welcoming venue for members to meet up, particularly the elderly, enjoy a cup of tea and a chat and mitigate any loneliness caused by the COVID-19 lockdown.

The project will provide significant benefits to people’s mental health and will be a facility which can be used by the whole Maryburgh community.

Culbokie Community Trust applied for £7,149,00 and a grant of £4,450 was approved by members today.

The funding is being used to create a proposed new Village Green will be a gathering point which is central but away from traffic on the busy through B9169. It will promote social mixing, reduce isolation, encourage shared endeavour, provide a safe play space, and activities for adults, families, and young people (such as outdoor table tennis).

Members at today’s meeting also agreed to split the £22,015,82 allocation by ward today, so essentially each ward has an allocation now of £11,007.91 (leaving a balance of £6,007.91 for Dingwall & Seaforth and a balance of £6,557.91 for the Black Isle).
