The Highland Council is inviting communities to come forward with expressions of interest for strategic projects that, if successful, could receive a share of funding aimed at supporting coastal communities throughout the Highlands

The Highland Coastal Communities Fund has been set up by the Council following an allocation of over £3 million from the Scottish Government of Crown Estates revenue funding. Most of the funding (£2.6m) was devolved to local area committees and to date around £2.3m of this has been committed.

A proportion of the funding was retained to fund projects where the benefit is considered to be wider than just one local area, or where the project could be considered of strategic importance to the Highlands.  A total of £355,205 is available and organisations are invited to submit expressions of interest using a form on the council’s website, where further information can also be found.-

Chair of the Council’s Environment and Infrastructure Committee, Cllr Trish Robertson said: “I hope communities take up this opportunity to submit their expressions of interest as this funding can make a difference getting projects up and running that will bring a very welcomed boost to our coastal communities and play a part in the wider economic recovery of the Highlands.”

The deadline for expressions of interests to be submitted is Monday 14 June 2021.
