The Leader of The Highland Council, Cllr Margaret Davidson, recently met with Council Roads Staff in Wick on a visit to Caithness.

Cllr Davidson said: “We have had a good discussion with the Area Roads Manager and some of her Team and I am very impressed with the road works that they have achieved this season. They have now switched their duties to the annual winter maintenance and gritting schedules until Spring.

“We all know there is more to do and we will be hoping over the next 2 or 3 years that we can get our roads back into a steady, satisfactory condition. Once the Council knows what its budget settlement will be from Scottish Government, I sincerely hope that we will be able to move more money again into next year’s roads’ maintenance schedules.

“I sincerely want to thank the Caithness Roads Team for their hard work and delivery, the majority of which has all been in-house, and supporting local jobs. Caithness elected members have also been meeting regularly and discussing the delivery and planning for Caithness roads budget. I want to thank them too and they also ensure the Caithness position is heard as the Highland budgets are set.”
